Think tank tells gov’t to exercise caution in job allocations

Author : | Published: Wednesday, May 4, 2016

The think tank, Sudd Institute, has called for caution in negotiating jobs for some leaders of the SPLM in Opposition and how much others will get to start their lives in the country.

The institute says some members of the opposition have returned with the hope of finding work to do.

In its latest report, the think tank says the two issues; including ranks in the seemingly joint army will all be subject to negotiation.

It warns that if they are not handled with caution, they could unravel much of the agreement.

The report identifies six key areas of focus for the transitional government.

These include security, economic recovery, humanitarian challenges, justice and reconciliation.

It also says that it is important to strengthen public finance management systems, enforce accountability and diversify the sources of revenue.

The report, entitled: South Sudan’s Transitional Government of National Unity: A Solution to the Country’s Instability or Mere Elite Pact of Self-Preservation,” was authored by co-founder Professor Jok Madut.
