Sudanese refugee arrested for killing friend during night booze

Police in Northern Bahr el Ghazal have arrested a Sudanese refugee man for allegedly stabbing to death a fellow friend on Tuesday.

The state police spokesperson says the incident occurred on Tuesday night at Wet-AwEil Refuge comp at around 9:00 PM.

” Yesterday [Tuesday] at 9:00 PM, our police personnel at Wud-Aweil refugee camp received a report that the body of a dead man was found in the camp, so the police close the camp and managed to apprehend the suspect.”

Captain Guot Gout Akol identified the suspect as 27-year-old Al-Tahir Rabah Hamid and the victim as Eissa – he was 30.

He told Eye Radio, the deceased and the alleged killer were  consuming alcohol together that evening when the incident occurred

According to Captain Akol, the police were yet to ascertain the motive of the killing.

“The two men were drinking together but the reason behind the killing was not yet known. But he confessed where he hit the knife he used to stab the man in his chest.”

However, during a preliminary investigation, the suspect reportedly confessed to the wrongdoing.

Established in April this year, the camp has so far received 7000 Sudanese refugees who fled the war in Sudan.
