Sudan Embassy in Juba says it has not stopped issuing entry visas to South Sudanese and other nationals who are willing to travel to Sudan.

This is in response to earlier reports that the embassy closed its visa consulate, after a confrontation among people seeking visa at the embassy.

The Charge de Affairs of Sudan in Juba – Osama Ahmed said, last week alone, the office was able to issue more than 500 entry visas to South Sudanese daily.

Mr. Ahmed told Eye Radio that in the past days they were forced to work on only Sudanese citizens, due to their big number. But he says the embassy is now open to South Sudanese who would like to travel to Sudan.

“We were forced to give the priority for emergency evacuation to only Sudanese people who have been sending back to Sudan. Because of the big number who is in the Embassy, we also been forced to focus in passport issues and emergency evacuation document and renewing of passports. But that did not stop the process of getting the visas,” he said.

He said anyone who wants to travel only needs to present a valid passport, and two passport photos.
