Students at Malek Secondary school in Bor, In Jonglei State have refused to take their final examinations and demand free promotion to the next classes.

The students accused the State Ministry of Education of arresting teachers and using people who are not teachers to select examination questions. They refused since last week to take the tests.

Ayuen Ayen Ayuen, one of the students who spoke to Eye Radio says they were not taught for the last three months since the opening of schools.

He also said the examination questions were selected out of coverage.

The Educational Minister in the state, Susan Lith Aluong says Malek was the only public school where students refused to take the exams

Mr Lith told Eye Radio that the state authorities and the parents have decided that Malek students may have more weeks to revise their notes and take the exams next year.

But a senior three student in the same school, Garang Majok, said the academic calendar doesn’t allow secondary students to study one class for more than a year.
