SSRM presents demands to President Kiir

The South Sudan Resistance Movement says it has presented four documents to the President Salva Kiir to justify the creation of a new state in Akobo.

Brigadier General Lul Ruai Koang, Chairman, says the papers include how to maintain peace within Akobo and with the neighbors.

He told Eye Radio that the President is studying the proposals before they meet in the near future.

“We are also mindful that the Addis Ababa peace process has not been productive and therefore we also presented a paper on peace from within initiative,” Brig Koang said.

“The documents I presented in total were four documents and those documents require time to be read and studied for appropriate response to be given.”

Brigadier Lul Ruai broke away from the SPLM in opposition two months ago and formed his own group calling for a separate state in Akobo.
