The South Sudan Football Federation (SSFF), with support from world football governing body FIFA, has launched a intensive 10-day D License coaching course targeting 32 female football coaches from across the country.

The CAF B License is the second-highest level of coaching certification awarded by the Confederation of African Football (CAF), serving as a critical bridge between grassroots development and elite professional football.

Managed and administered locally by member associations like the South Sudan Football Federation (SSFF) or the South African Football Association (SAFA), this credential sets the baseline standard for top-tier assistant coaching across the continent

The capacity-building initiative brings together two coaches from each of the 12 clubs slated to compete in the upcoming Women’s Premier League, alongside six additional coaches.

The training is designed to elevate technical standards and strengthen coaching capability ahead of the league’s inaugural season, which is scheduled to kick off on September 19, 2026.

To ensure comprehensive preparation, the federation plans to roll out an additional training program before the season opens. That upcoming session will focus on club administrators and medical personnel to enhance overall administrative capability and medical readiness across participating teams.

In a concurrent effort to strengthen football development and administration, the SSFF has officially launched a dedicated Historians Committee tasked with documenting, preserving, and promoting the history of football in South Sudan.

The newly formed committee will systematically gather and archive historical records, archival photographs, oral histories, and key memorabilia highlighting the evolution of the game in the country. Its work will specifically highlight the contributions of pioneer players, coaches, referees, and administrative leaders.

According to the SSFF, the Historians Committee will serve as a structured platform to safeguard South Sudan’s rich football heritage and ensure foundational records remain accessible to future generations.
