The Managing Director of the state-run South Sudan Broadcasting Corporation (SSBC), John Madol Panther, has reportedly been suspended from his position according to sources who spoke to Eye Radio.

A source familiar with the matter, who requested anonymity, told Eye Radio that Panther was suspended on Wednesday following a resolution by members of the SSBC Board.

The source said Susan Alfson, a director at the state broadcaster, has been appointed Acting Managing Director following Panther’s suspension.

However, the reasons for the reported suspension remain unclear.

SSBC has not publicly commented on the matter or officially confirmed Panther’s suspension.

The source said the Board is currently meeting and is expected to issue a statement explaining the decision and clarifying whether Panther will be reinstated or a new Managing Director will be appointed.

Eye Radio has contacted SSBC officials for comment, but no official response has been received at the time of publication.
