The SPLM in Opposition says its 25 police generals are coming to Juba this afternoon to take part in the Joint Defense Board.

The spokesman of the advance team in Juba, William Ezekiel, says the generals are headed by Lieutenant General Yen Aral Lam, and three other lieutenant-generals.

Mr Ezekiel told Eye Radio that Mr Yen is accompanied by 10 Major Generals, three Brigadier Generals, five colonels and four other officers of different ranks.

He says the generals are coming from Pagak directly to Juba.

“Their mandate is to come and participate in the implementation of the provisions that concern the issue of the organized forces, be partakers in maintain security in Juba,”

UNMISS is yet to comment on the transport arrangements.

But on Wednesday, the mission said it had not received any formal request to transport the generals to Juba.

The officers were expected in Juba this week, but they failed to arrive due to what the SPLM in Opposition calls a coordination problem between Juba and Malakal.
