Speaker, Ethiopian ambassador discuss strengthening bilateral cooperation

The Speaker of Parliament Joseph Ngere Paciko and the Ethiopian Ambassador to South Sudan Delil Kedir Bushra have discussed ways of strengthening bilateral cooperation between the two countries.

The two sides agreed to review existing bilateral agreements, particularly in the areas of security, infrastructure, and energy cooperation, during a meeting on Wednesday.

According to a statement from the Speaker’s office, the discussions focused on cooperation in road construction linking the two countries, joint hydroelectric power projects, and the use of Nile water resources.

The meeting also touched on refugee return and preparations for the planned December 2026 elections.

The Ethiopian ambassador commended Parliament’s role in supporting peace agreements and strengthening relations between South Sudan and Ethiopia.

Both sides also emphasized the importance of capacity building, education, and youth empowerment, including proposals for scholarships and aviation training opportunities for South Sudanese students.

The leaders reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining strong bilateral relations and continued cooperation on regional peace and development initiatives.
