“When I heard that our President Salva Kiir was going to meet, I became happy from yesterday”, a resident of Juba, Elizabeth Hamad Morjan said.

As President Salva Kiir meets with his former deputy Riek Machar in Addis Ababa today, people of South Sudan have urged both parties to do what they can to end the conflict.

Eye Radio spoke to a number of Juba residents this morning, and they say people of South Sudan want lasting peace in the country.

“People are suffering, what I need really from these people, they need to do for us favors to give us peace so that we can stay in harmony in this nation”, said Bace Race, a resident of Juba.

“I expect them to go and talk for safety at least, they have to understand themselves, and Riak at least should come back. He should not stay there in the forest and a lot of people are dying, we South Sudan we begun dying since. We have been in war for twenty one years of dying, and even these year again we start killing? This is not okay; we need them to talk for peace to come back”, said Patrick Khamis.

“…we want their meeting to bring us peace because we have lost our children, many people died during this conflict, so their meeting today should bring us peace” , said Elizabeth Hamad Morjan, a mother.

These were some voices of Juba residents regarding the meeting of President Salva Kiir and Riek Machar in Addis Ababa today.
