The Ministry of Higher Education has announced 150 scholarship opportunities offered by the Algerian government for eligible South Sudanese students for the 2026/2027 academic year. According to the ministry, applications will open on August 24 and close on September 4, 2026.

According to a notification issued by the Ministry on August 21, applications will open on August 24 and close on September 4, 2026.

Applicants are required to submit their applications to the Department of Training and External Relations at the Ministry’s headquarters in Atalabara, along Nimira Talata Malakia Road, opposite Antipas Pharmacy in Juba.

The Ministry has outlined several requirements for applicants, including South Sudanese nationality, a copy of a secondary school certificate or equivalent, and a valid passport with at least six months of validity.

Applicants must also provide an age assessment or birth certificate, National Identity Card, medical certificate, two recent coloured passport-size photographs and a certificate of good conduct issued in August or the first week of September 2026.

Academic certificates obtained in South Sudan must be authenticated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation. Foreign academic certificates must be authenticated by the foreign ministry of the host country and endorsed by the South Sudanese Embassy in that country.

Applicants are also required to complete the scholarship application form, indicate their State, County, Payam and Boma, and select a field of study from the list provided by the Ministry.

The scholarship application form can only be obtained from the Ministry’s headquarters at a fee of 25,000 South Sudanese Pounds.

The Ministry has urged eligible students to submit complete and accurate applications within the stipulated period, warning that incomplete or late applications may not be considered.

It says the scholarship programme will provide South Sudanese students with an opportunity to pursue higher education and acquire skills that can contribute to the development of the country.
