South Sudan Muslims mark Eid al-Adha

Muslims in South Sudanese have joined the world in celebrating Eid al-Adha. Thousands of them held prayers this morning in Medan Zhara in Juba.

A leader from Islamic council, Juma Tombe says this year Eid comes when peace has been signed. He called on the people to celebrate in peace, joy and happiness.

“The celebration of Eid Al-Adha this year is happening together with the signing of the peace agreement, and this shows that we are in peace,” Mr Tombe said.

The day honors the willingness of Abraham (Ibrahim) to sacrifice his son, as an act of submission to God’s command, before God then intervened, through his angel Jibra’il and informs him that his sacrifice has already been accepted.
