Author : | Published: Tuesday, December 30, 2014

The SPLA Spokesperson says one officer was killed and two soldiers wounded when the SPLA in Opposition Forces bombed Nasir town in Upper Nile State yesterday.

Colonel Philip Aguer says the shelling of their positions by the opposition forces was a violation, and he urged the IGAD monitors to investigate the incident.

“The rebels are covering up their obvious violations that took place yesterday in Nasir in which the rebels shelled Nasir town and shelled SPLA positions, and led to the death of one of our officers and wounding two other officers.” Aguer said. He added, “The IGAD can testify that UNMISS is in Nasir and that can be investigated.”

The Military Spokesman for SPLM-SPLA in Opposition forces, Brigadier-General Lul Ruai Koang, says his forces did not attack government positions.

He says they were acting in self-defense because the government forces attempted to come out of their defensive positions.
