A social worker is searching for the parents of a boy whom she found suffering from Tuberculosis at a police station in Juba nearly two years ago, but who is now fully treated and healthy.

Betty Thomas, the founder of Saint Claire Orphanage said the young boy named Jackson was taken to police custody in Juba town by an unidentified person who found him on the street.

“I got him from the police station in Juba town, they called me, and I rushed there then they told me that he had stayed there for three days, he doesn’t know the home,” she said.

According to the social worker, the boy was suffering from tuberculosis, but that he has now recovered after undergoing a nine-month medical treatment.

Betty said the boy has now recovered saying she want to hand him to his parents.

“He was not healthy. I picked him and took him for medical checkup we found he had TB. They treated for three months then they put him under treatment again for six months now he finished the medication this week.”

“He is now okey then I said let me bring him to Eye Radio because he is looking good, maybe the parent can come out.”

Betty said the boy has named his father only as Chol, a driver in Juba – and his mother as Abuk, a tea vendor in Juba.

Saint Claire Orphanage is a home to over 120 street children, orphans, and children abandoned by their parents.
