The King of the Chollo Kingdom has called for remarking of the geographical constituencies in Upper Nile State ahead of the general elections in 2024, saying it will  bring peace and ensure a smooth transition

The traditional leader said since he came to Juba and brought Johnson Olony, the leader of the Aqwelek forces, Upper Nile State has been peaceful.

However, he called on the national government to resolve the disputes in the state including the contested areas.

King Kwongo said the registration of voters to enable the conduct of elections in the state can’t be smooth if the border issues are not resolved before the end of the transitional period.

“The constituencies have to be remarked again to bring peace for those who will go for registration and for those who will make the boundaries of the constituencies, these things are very important, ” said King Reth Kwongo Dak Padiet during a meeting at the National Revenue Authority on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, he called for the unity of the people of Upper Nile and all South Sudanese to ensure a peaceful transition by the end of next year.

King Dak stressed that fighting will not take the country anywhere and appealed to South Sudanese to forget the past incidents.

“We need to be united, all of us in South Sudan, and this is where peace will go smoothly,

For those who will contest, there shouldn’t be any quarrels after elections are over, and those who pass the election should be peaceful to his brothers who are defeated, and he who is defeated should not take back the country to war,’ he concluded.
