Regional leaders discuss S Sudan crisis

Regional leaders have converged in the Ugandan capital, Kampala, to discuss the South Sudan conflict.

The leaders include President Uhuru Kenyatta of Kenya and President Yoweri Museveni, Uganda.

They are trying to find a way forward to convince the warring parties to arrive at a peace deal.

Foreign Affairs Minister Marial Benjamin is representing the government in the one-day meeting.

“They will concentrate on trying to bring the two parties to end the conflict by signing the peace in August,” said Mawien Makol, spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The fourth round of peace talks is in its fifth day today in Addis Ababa. Negotiators are discussing a proposal to end the conflict.
