Author : | Published: Monday, August 10, 2015

The Governor of Lakes State has appointed Madong Morwel as the new commissioner for Rumbek North County.

Mr Madok is replacing Abraham Maloth, who was shot dead in a road ambush in May.

He took oath of office over the weekend. Mr Madong told Eye Radio that one of his priorities in office will be to end revenge killings.

“Let’s stop killing ourselves. Let’s make it a chance for you to make peace,” he said. “So this is what I want to tell my people, especially to go back to their county and stop killing one another.”

The national parliament said hundreds of people have been killed in revenge killings over the last few years.
