The leader of the People’s Liberal Party, Peter Mayen, has been released after a week in detention.

The party youth chairmanship announced the disappearance of Mr Mayen last week.

Mr Mayen told Eye Radio that he was blindfolded and kept in an unknown location for the last seven days until he was released last night.

“I was actually released the way I was arrested. I was arrested in my house, at around 10 O’clock. Two gentlemen in suits came with a plate-less car – a V8,” he narrated.

“I began to see an attitude of war. So, I got into the V8.”

Mr Mayen was arrested after publishing an article critical of the government.
