The National Legislature is set to endorse the extension of the transitional government for another two years in an extraordinary sitting scheduled for today.
According to the agenda dated September 20th, issued by the Clerk, the sitting aims to ratify the amendment to the interim constitution in cooperating the extension.
At the anticipated siting, the Minister of Justice and Constitutional Affairs, Ruben Madol will present the Cabinet’s resolution on the extension.
He will also table the resolutions of the political parties that are signatories to the peace agreement and the position of the Presidency on the extension
The Legislature will then adopt the Re-constituted Joint Monitoring and Evaluation Commission’s consent to the extension of the transitional period, as agreed by the parties to the peace agreement.
It will also endorse the report of the High-Level Standing Committee on the implementation of the roadmap.
