A young man in Tonj town, Warrap State, is appealing for urgent financial assistance to seek specialized medical treatment after living for years with a severe stomach injury that has left him in critical condition.
Manyang Machar, an orphan from Tonj East County, says his struggles began after the death of his father, whom he described as a soldier. Following his father’s death, he alleges that relatives took away the family’s belongings, leaving his mother and siblings without support.
“After my father died, life became very difficult for us. We were left with nothing, and my mother struggled alone to take care of us,” Manyang said in a video appeal circulating on social media.
In search of a better life, his mother relocated the family to Tonj town, where they struggled to make ends meet.
Manyang recounts that while trying to earn a living as a child, he climbed a mango tree to collect fruits for sale but fell and sustained a serious stomach injury.
“I was trying to help my mother and siblings by selling mangoes. When I fell from the tree, I did not know that my life would change forever,” he recalled.
He was later taken to Tonj Civil Hospital, where medical personnel reportedly informed the family that his condition required specialized treatment and surgery beyond the facility’s capacity.
However, due to financial constraints, he has been unable to access the recommended medical care.
According to Manyang, complications from the injury led to urinary blockage, forcing him to live with a tube that serves as a urinary passage.
“I have lived with this pain for a long time. I cannot afford the treatment I need, and every day is a struggle. I am appealing to kind-hearted people to help me get medical care and return to a normal life,” Manyang said.
In a video circulating on social media on Friday, the young man made an emotional appeal to well-wishers, humanitarian organizations and members of the public to help raise funds for his treatment.
“My only hope now is the support of good people. I ask anyone who can help not to leave me alone in this condition,” he added.
A team coordinating the fundraising effort said contributions can be made through contacts shared alongside the appeal.
The focal person can be reached via +211 988 880 950 or +211 915 655 369.
Manyang remains in Tonj town as he continues to battle the condition while awaiting assistance for the surgery and treatment he desperately needs.
