A man has shot and critically wounded his wife before taking his life Friday in Nzara County, Western Equatoria State.

The County Commissioner, Zizi Richard confirmed the incident while speaking to Eye Radio in the morning of October 14.

The man identified as Tingba Baanzari in his late thirties reportedly shot Nora Jumma in the head at around 7:30 am at Namuku residential area in Nzara County.

According to Commissioner Richard, the culprit-turned-victim then fled the crime scene, thinking he has killed his wife, who is currently under treatment in hospital.

Following a police search, he was found dead in what the Police Commissioner said he committed suicide.

“This morning around 7:30 is a young man aged between30-35 named Tingba Baanzari shot his wife Nora Jumma 25 on the head. Thinking she passed away, then he run away,” Richard said narrating the incident to Eye Radio.

“After the neighbor heard the gunshot, they took the wife to the hospital and he (husband) was chased by the police for two hours they found him hanged himself.”

The commissioner confirmed that the couple was living together, but the genesis of the dispute is not clear.

“No one knows what happened we are waiting for the wife, who is in critical condition to recover and tell us the story.”

Nzara County has witnessed two similar incidents of domestic violence this year, in which two women and a man died, according to the commissioner.
