The National Transitional Committee has been evicted from its offices after they failed to pay the rental fees, a senior member of the committee has revealed.

Stephen Phar Kuol, the Minister of Peace-Building said the NTC has recieved an eviction notice from the management of the South Sudan Hotel.

“The NTC itself with all security mechanisms has been evicted from its premise at South Sudan hot due to lack of payment because the NTC has not received any funding,” Phar said during the RJMEC Plenary Meeting on Thursday.

“We failed to pay the rent for our offices based inside South Sudan Hotel so, we have actually been evicted. We have received the eviction note.”

However, the minister did not mention when the offices would be vacated by the committee.

The NTC office premises have been at South Sudan Hotel since the start of the implementation of the revitalized peace agreement in 2018.

The body is mandated to oversee and coordinate the implementation of the Transitional Security Arrangements outstanding tasks.

NTC has not been also able to pay incentives and operating costs for security mechanism members for more than 3 years.
