Media Authority director general Sapana Abuyi laid to rest in Mvolo

The South Sudan Media Authority says its Director General for Information and Media Compliance, Hon. Sapana Agyuli Abuyi, has been laid to rest in his hometown of Mvolo, Western Equatoria State.

According to the Media Authority, family members, government officials, colleagues and media stakeholders gathered on Thursday, 16 July 2026, to pay their final respects to the late public servant.

The Authority said Sapana’s body was transported from Juba to Mvolo, where burial preparations and final rites were conducted.

The delegation accompanying the body included South Sudan’s Envoy to IGAD, Lawrence Korbandy, former Minister of Presidential Affairs Joseph Bangasi Bakosoro, and Media Authority Managing Director Ajou Luol Akuei, who also represented the Ministry of Information, Communication Technology and Postal Services.

The Media Authority said the late Sapana was remembered for his professionalism, patriotism and contribution to South Sudan’s media sector.

The Authority extended condolences to his family, the people of Western Equatoria State and all those affected by his death, while thanking government institutions, media stakeholders and citizens for their support during the mourning period.
