More than 400 secondary school examination markers have laid down their tools in demand for a pay rise and allowance arrears.
The markers were selected from various schools around the country to mark the final national secondary school examinations papers in Juba.
The 440 teachers said the Ministry of Education has failed to cater for their feeding, accommodation and transportation for one month now.
They also demand for a rise in payment for marking each paper from 5 pound to 10 pounds.
“We are shutting down this marking process until [we get] the transport, feeding, the accommodation allowances for four weeks,”said Deng Benjamin, Chairperson of the Examination Markers.
Efforts by Eye Radio to reach the Ministry of Education for comment were unsuccessful.
