JUBA, South Sudan (Eye Radio) – Prosecution teams opened the seventh session of the Special Court trial on Monday, submitting crucial documents—including a formal autopsy report—as evidence against the suspended First Vice President Dr Riek Machar and his seven co-accused.

According to the prosecutor, the digital forensic analysis contains videos, phone call recordings, and evidence of alleged funding linked to the accused SPLM-IO members.

During the session, the prosecution submitted several exhibits, including an autopsy report for the late David Majur Dak, dated March 10, 2025, and signed by Dr Akram.

Labeled as Prosecution Exhibit No. 5, the report was admitted without objection from the defense.

The court also reviewed Prosecution Exhibit No. 7, which included death certificates for 256 SSPDF soldiers reportedly killed in Nasir.

Presiding Judge Justice James Alala adjourned the session to Wednesday, October 8, 2025.

EDITORIAL NOTEThis story has been updated for accuracy and is now titled “Machar trial session 7: Prosecution submits key documents.” The original title incorrectly stated that the foreign forensic report was “rejected.” The Special Court did not reject the document; instead, it clarified that the report will be examined once the author or relevant expert is present for the cross-examination phase of the trial. We sincerely regret the misuse of the word ‘rejected, which may have caused concern regarding the ongoing legal proceedings.
