Local Courts suspend court cases in Aweil

Local judges in Aweil South County have been ordered to suspend all cases and hearings until the end of the current cultivation season. Authorities in the area want residents to spend more time cultivating their farms during this rainy season.

Aweil South County Commissioner, Jiel Mangok, said court hearings often attracts a lot of people throughout the day, making people ignore farms.

He directed local chiefs to ensure residents spend enough time in their farms as a means of avoiding hunger and starvation.

He added that only a limited number of elders will be left to deal with issues of theft and disagreements over properties.

The new order also requires traders to open their shops at 3pm every day until the end of the cultivation season. County Police officers have also been instructed to strictly enforce the order.
