South Sudan president Salva Kiir Mayardit has said “the president of Sudan is responsible for catching the killers of Dinka chief in Abyei.”

“President Omar Bashir must do everything to bring to justice those responsible for the death or be considered responsible himself,” said Mr. President.

Kuol Deng Kuol was shot dead last Saturday in an ambush by Misserya tribesmen.

Hundreds of people gathered Thursday at police general Pieng Deng’s home to remember Kuol Deng Kuol.

The president’s comments have coincided with a call from the Africa Union for immediate talks between the two country’s presidents

The Africa Union resolution also calls for the formation of  a committee of investigation and the immediate withdrawal of Sudanese forces from Difra in northern Abyei.
