The peace parties will not be able to implement the agreement fully like the 2005 Comprehensive Agreement, Vice President Rebecca Nyandeng has said.

Nyandeng says until today, some provisions of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement signed between SPLM and NCP of Sudan have not been fully implemented.

According to her, the 2018 peace accord has many parties that signed the deal, making its implementation difficult.

The Vice President in charge of the Youth and Gender Cluster noted that the current agreement is complex due to what she describes as ‘too many heads’ in the government.

“We were not expecting that we would implement the agreement fully because even in the CPA, there were some [provisions] which were left,” said VP Nyandeng.

“Dealing with issues concerning human beings is not easy, especially in our situation when there are so many parties, even though they say two heads are better than one,” she said.

“We will not be able to implement the agreement fully because even in CPA we did not do that. But whatever we can do and achieve at this time we will try very much, especially in my cluster.”
