Lakes: 350 boreholes break down

More than 350 boreholes that were sources of clean water to different communities in Lakes State broke down last year.

The Director for Water, Hygiene and Sanitation in the state, says the breakdown has caused congestion at the remaining boreholes.

“Many boreholes that were drilled have been destroyed. And who destroyed them? It’s our communities who bring their animals to come and share water with the people.” Barnaba Makuach Magol.

Mr Magol called on the communities to take care of the boreholes in their localities.

He said more boreholes are needed in Rumbek North, Rumbek East and Yirol West counties. Other counties that need boreholes include Rumbek Central and Cueibet.
