Koryom FC Bor secured their second consecutive victory in the 2024-2025 South Sudan Premier League season, beating Young Stars FC Torit 2-0 at Juba National Stadium on Friday.

The win places Koryom at the top with six points and four goals having previously defeated Al Salam Aweil with the same score. Kator are second in the table with six points and three goals in match-week 2.

Despite concerns over their physical fitness, Koryom effectively utilized their players’ capabilities, focusing on defensive tactics, narrowing spaces, and relying on counterattacks.

This strategy proved successful against the Young Stars, who dominated possession but struggled to convert opportunities into goals.

Sudan Gatyiek opened the scoring for Koryom FC Bor, capitalizing on the Young Stars’ defensive gaps. Christopher Kiirya secured the win with a second goal in the 81st minute, ending the Young Stars’ hopes of equalizing.

Koryom Manager Moses Machar was happy for the win but voiced dissatisfaction with the team’s performance, citing a need to improve physical fitness and address match scheduling pressures.

Young Stars FC coach Angelo Gabriel praised his team’s improved performance compared to their previous game but lamented missed opportunities.

He decried the lack of finishing power and highlighted the need for stronger strikers, emphasizing that circumstances differ for every match.
