President Salva Kiir has issued a decree approving the memberships of 50 nominees Dr Riek Machar appointed to represent SPLM in Opposition in the forthcoming national legislative assembly.

The MPs were selected based on the previous 10 states.

According to the list, 24 MPs are from Upper Nile region, 14 from Equatoria, and 12 from Bahr el Ghazal.

Last evening, the president issued a decree appointing the members to the transitional legislature.

The approval came after the parties to the peace agreement distributed the ministries in the future transitional government of national unity.

The government will have 16 ministries, 10 for the SPLM in Opposition, four for both the former detainees and other political parties.
