President Salva Kiir on Friday evening issued a Republican Decree, relieving Dr. Chol Deng Thon for the second time as Managing Director of the Nile Petroleum Corporation.

In a similar decree, Kiir has appointed Eng. Bernard Amour Makeny as the new Managing Director.

Dr. Chol, a graduate of a Master of Science (M.Sc.) degree in Municipal Water and Infrastructures in the Netherlands, was appointed the Managing Director of NilePet in 2017.

He became the longest serving head of Nile-Pet when the president fired him on the 16th of September 2020.

However, President Kiir re-appointed Dr. Chol for the second time in October 2021 to replace Eng. Bol Ring.

Before becoming the NilePet boss, Chol was previously the Deputy Managing Director and Director General for Downstream between 2015 and 2017.

The new Managing Director of Nilepet Bernard Makeny holds a Masters’s Degree in Oil and Gas Management from the University of Liverpool, UK.
