Sudan and South Sudan have signed two agreements on the demarcation of the border between the two countries.
This was done in six review meetings of the South Sudan and the Sudan Joint Border Commission that was held in the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa, last week.
During the four-day meetings, the parties agreed on the terms of reference, budget for demarcation as well as the work plan of the commission.
According to All Africa, the Minister of Information, Michael Makuei who is also the Chairperson of the South Sudan Joint Border Commission, said the South Sudanese delegation has signed all the documents endorsed in the meetings.
He said the delegation has initialed one document regarding the internal roles and procedures for the Joint Technical Committee.
The documents were signed by Ambassador Darious Garang Wol on behalf of the South Sudan delegation and Professor Abdulsadiq Alhusean on behalf of the Sudan delegation.
The head of the Sudan delegation, Alrasheed Harun Adam, expressed their commitment to resolve the remaining issues in the next meeting of the JBC which will be held in November this year in Ethiopia.
