Juba authorities block wagons from supplying river water

The Juba City Council has directed all the water tankers in the town not to fetch water directly from the river.

The Mayor of the town Municipality, Stephen Wani Michael said the directive has been issued as an effort to combat the spread of Cholera.

He said they have deployed police around the River Nile bank in Juba to prevent the water tankers from drawing unpurified water from the river.

“We have four clean water stations, so there is no need for us to supply the people with water from the river.

“We have one factory in Mairo which is called Glory factory, we have SDI, we have urban water and then we have one in Seventh Day. These are the big stations of the clean water.”

Mr. Wani said water tankers found supplying people with water fetched directly from the river will be punished.
