Jonglei State is still suffering from insecurity which has led to continuing streams of internally displaced people relocating to Bor town, according to the state SPLM office.

Acting state SPLM Secretary, Abuot Awan said that most communities in the state have been disarmed and are now extremely vulnerable because of the security situation.

“We have now insecurity in the rural areas and most of the people have migrate from their areas to Jonglei headquarters that is in Bor, and that is alarming, because people have been displace by insecurity in the area and they have to move with their families and their livestock,” Abuot Awan told Eye Radio. “Bor is a crowded place. The condition of our people is very difficult, they have now occupied the roads and when you are moving on the roads, they are settled on the roads and the cars are passing them,  motorbike are passing them…..everything is on the roads .”

Mister Abuot also said that many villages are totally deserted.

The current security situation in the state poses an enormous threat to the community because of extreme food shortages and outbreaks of disease, he said.
