The Sewage Tankers Drivers Union, in partnership with Juba County, has commenced the rehabilitation of the access road leading to the capital’s central sewage facility to improve transport efficiency and lower vehicle maintenance costs.

Juba County Commissioner Eng. Samuel Emiliano Wani Pitia launched the project, noting that degraded road conditions have contributed to high maintenance expenses for sewage trucks while disrupting daily service delivery.

Commissioner Pitia commended the Sewage Tankers Drivers Union for collaborating with local authorities and stated that the county will continue rehabilitating residential roads across Juba to enhance the movement of people and essential services.

Amal Rajab Juma Wani, Director of Revenue at Juba County, emphasized the strategic importance of the route, noting that the sewage facility serves households across the capital. She urged county leadership to extend similar infrastructure interventions to other key service roads.

Johnson Wani Swaka, Officer in Charge of the Sewage Facility, stated that the upgraded road will streamline access for service trucks and benefit surrounding communities.

Head of the Sewage Tankers Drivers Union, Daniel, added that poor road infrastructure previously created severe operational hurdles and inflated repair costs, adding that the rehabilitation will allow operators to deliver services more efficiently.

County officials confirmed the initiative forms part of broader efforts to upgrade residential road networks and strengthen access to critical public utilities across Juba.
