Six children are still missing after an attack on Ayueldit village, Duk County, two days ago, the commissioner has said.
Gunmen stormed the village on Sunday and abducted five boys and one girl. No one was killed in the incident.
Akech Deng says security forces have been searching for the children but none has been recovered. Three of the children were for one family.
“Imagine if someone came and took away three kids away from you and that was all you had. Throughout these entire crises, you managed to help them survive,” said Mr Deng. “It is like there is no another life.”
He added that security officials have traced footprints of the gunmen to the direction of Pibor.
Child abduction cases are a common phenomenon in the area and Jonglei at large.
