UN Jebel camp calm after protests

It is now calm at the UN camp in Jebel suburb in Juba after protests yesterday, the acting spokesperson of UNMISS has told Eye Radio.

The cause of the protest has not been established.

“The IDPs are targeting the Boda Boda, drivers and we are investigating the incident,” Joseph Contreras said. “As per yesterday, no arrest has been made.”

Mr Conteras said some people were injured during the protests but he did not specify the number.

He said UN security forces were deployed to disperse the protest and maintain order.

There are about 30,000 people currently sheltering at it camp in Jebel, according to the UN mission.
