ICT Ministry joins nation in mourning Eye Radio legend Emmanuel Akile

JUBA, South Sudan (Eye Radio) – The Ministry of Information, Communication Technology, and Postal Services has expressed deep sadness following the sudden passing of one of South Sudan’s most distinguished media figures, Emmanuel Joseph Akile.

In an official statement released on December 31, 2025, the Minister of ICT and Postal Services, Hon. Ateny Wek Ateny, extended his condolences to the media fraternity and the family of the late veteran journalist.

Hon. Ateny hailed Mr. Akile as a widely admired professional whose contributions to the industry were unparalleled. As a senior journalist at Eye Radio, Akile became a household name and a recognizable voice, most notably as the host of the popular morning program, “The Dawn Show.”

The Minister specifically highlighted Akile’s pivotal role in South Sudan’s Peace Journalism. His ability to navigate the complexities of the nation’s transition and communicate messages of unity earned him immense respect across all levels of South Sudanese society.

“He was instrumental in South Sudan’s Peace Journalism, earning him respect within the South Sudanese society,” the Minister noted in the statement. “He will be dearly missed.”

The Ministry’s tribute comes at a time when the media community is grappling with the loss of a man many considered a mentor and an icon. Akile was known for his calm, professional demeanor and his commitment to governance and diplomacy reporting.

The passing of Emmanuel Akile marks the end of an era for the “The Dawn Show,” where his insights helped shape the morning conversations of millions of listeners across the country.

As the nation enters the New Year, the Ministry joins Eye Media and the entire journalist community in honoring a man who dedicated his life to the “just cause of enlightenment.”
