The International Committee of the Red Cross has reiterated its call for the warring parties in the current conflict to respect humanitarian organizations and workers.
There has been reported cases of harassment and attack on aid workers in the country, especially in the conflict-affected states.
The ICRC head of delegation in South Sudan, Franz Rauchenstein, told Eye Radio that respecting aid organizations would enable them deliver supplies to the people cut off by the conflict.
“The main massage is, please spare the civilians, let humanitarian actors access the people in need,” said Mr Rauchenstein.
“Don’t disturb humanitarian activities and I think the parties are well aware of the sensitivity of humanitarian action. Respect the Red Cross, respect health facilities.”
Mr. Franz says the ICRC is in contact with the SPLA and the SPLA in Opposition to remind them to respect the international humanitarian law that provide for civilian protection.
The International Committee of the Red Cross has been providing humanitarian assistance in the country since crisis began late last year.
