Kiir visits Cairo

President Salva Kiir left for the Egyptian capital, Cairo, this morning in response to an invitation from President Fatah Al-Sisi.

Presidential press secretary Ateny Wek Ateny says the President will brief his counterpart on government’s commitments to bring lasting peace to South Sudan.

Mr Ateny says the president, who is accompanied by several ministers and top government officials, will also discuss bilateral relations between the two countries.

“President Kiir will be briefing President Al sisi of Egypt about the crisis in South Sudan and his resolution to return the normalcy to South Sudan,” Mr Ateny said.

Mr. Ateny said the president will also discuss issues related to the Nile Basin Agreement.

Egypt has interests in South Sudan. it is supporting many sectors including education and business.
