Warrap State Minister of Information says there is a looming famine in the state due to lack of rain last year.

He also said there are more people to feed because of Internally Displaced Persons from the neighboring Unity State.

Aid agencies have reported that over 7 million in South Sudan could face food shortages this year.

The State Minister of Information Paul Dhel Gum told Eye Radio Sundown show that the state will face a very serious famine in the coming months.

“All the indicators in the markets – the commodities in the market indicate really that our people will face some difficult time ahead,” said Mr Gum.”

He also said that bad roads infrastructure has made it difficult for the State to access commodities from the neighboring countries, which has increased the cost of living in the area.
