Gov’t urged to mark zebra-crossings on the roads

Disables have urged the government to make zebra crossings on the roads to reduce accidents.

They made the call on the International Day of Social Justice, celebrated annually on the 20th of February to recognize the need to promote efforts to tackle issues such as poverty and unemployment.

This year, the theme is “ending poverty, human trafficking and forced labor”

Ferid Oyayi is a disabled social researcher, says they are caught up in accidents due to lack of pedestrian crossing points on the roads.

“There are many disabled people using the road; children women and many others but there is no respect to these people. I have not even seen any sign post indicating that pedestrian crossing at this point, it should be there” He said
