Gov’t releases some of the 89 Wau Shilluk abducted children

The government says some of the children who were conscripted into the armed forces of Johnson Olony in Wau Shilluk area in Upper Nile State have been released.

The 89 children were abducted last month while sitting their exams.

“We have agreed with UNICEF to provide for us transport means from here up to Upper Nile,” said James Aguer, Chairperson of Committee for the Eradication of Abduction of Women and Children.

The move came after UN agencies repeatedly call for release of the children.
