JUBA, South Sudan (Eye Radio) – The government has condemned the killing of nearly 200 people in Abiemnhom, Ruweng Administrative Area, describing the attack as a cowardly act of violence against civilians and public officials.

Authorities in the Ruweng Administrative Area confirmed yesterday that at least 169 people lost their lives, while more than 68 others sustained injuries.

The victims include both civilians and members of law enforcement. Among those killed in the assault were the Commissioner of Awarpiny County and the Executive Director of Abiemnhom County.

In an official statement, the government stated that such actions undermine national peace, stability, and ongoing reconciliation efforts. Security organs have been directed to restore order in the area and conduct a thorough investigation to identify and hold the perpetrators accountable under the law.

The government urged all communities to remain calm and refrain from retaliatory violence, emphasizing that authorities are working to stabilize the situation and ensure the protection of all citizens in the region.
