Gbudwe debates movements of peacekeepers

Author : | Published: Friday, May 13, 2016

The governor of the Gbudwe in former Western Equatoria says his council of ministries is discussing an order banning UNIMSS peacekeepers from patrolling some areas of the state.

On Wednesday, the Minister of local government and law enforcement issued a ministerial order, barring UN peacekeepers from patrolling the streets.

Governor Patrick Raphael says the order was issued because UNIMSS was patrolling the state with big tanks.

“Since there is no high risk of insecurity in the area, what is the reason of moving with these big tanks in the market, on the streets?” Mr Raphael asked.
