The United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization says it needs an additional $32 million to respond to the looming hunger situation in South Sudan.
It warns that the humanitarian situation in the country is deteriorating.
In its report, FAO says there is need to expand resilience efforts and maintain current operations on the ground.
FAO Country Representative in South Sudan, Sue Lautze, says they are expecting household food stocks in the affected counties to run out by much 2015.
The report comes as the UN humanitarian chief Valerie Amos and UNESCO Special Envoy for Peace and Reconciliation, Forest Whitaker are on a visit to assess the humanitarian situation in South Sudan.
A high level meeting on the humanitarian situation in South Sudan is expected to be held tomorrow in the Kenyan capital, Nairobi.
