The family of Joseph Bangasi Bakosoro says they have been given access to the former governor, who has been in detention for more than three months now.

The rights group, Amnesty International, says Mr Bakosoro was arrested in December and his family was not immediately allowed to visit him.

A sister to the former governor says they have been seeing him for about a month now.

Dodo Bakasoro told Eye Radio that his brother looks weak.

“We’re allowed to visit him. This will be the fourth week now. He is weak, I think, due to psychological torture,” Ms Bakasoro.

Mr Bakasoro has been in detention since December 2015. The motive behind his confinement is unclear.

“It is not yet confirmed as to when he will be released,” she added.
