The management of Eye Radio and Eye Media has pledged to preserve the legacy of its late journalist, Emmanuel Joseph Akile.

The pledge was made by the Chief Executive Officer of Eye Radio and Eye Media, Stephen Omiri, during a Friday vigil held in honour of Akile following his death.

Omiri said the media house, together with colleagues and well-wishers, remains committed to keeping Akile’s memory alive and ensuring that his contribution to journalism continues to inspire future generations.

He described Akile as a journalist who dedicated his youthful life to serving the country through accurate, credible and evidence-based reporting, earning respect and admiration across the media fraternity.

Omiri noted that although Akile is no longer alive, his work and sacrifice have left a lasting mark on many people.

He revealed that Eye Media has already started planning a project in Akile’s name as part of efforts to preserve his legacy.

“As Eye Media, we are blessed with four plots of land in one location, and with the support of good-hearted people, we will establish something truly meaningful, an enduring tribute that bears his name and celebrates his spirit,” Omiri said.

He concluded by wishing the late journalist eternal rest, adding that Akile’s dedication and service to the profession will not be forgotten.

Emmanuel Joseph Akile was a renowned South Sudanese journalist and the host of Eye Radio’s flagship programme, The Dawn Show. He died on 30 December 2025 after a short illness while receiving treatment in hospital.

His death shocked colleagues, family, friends and listeners across the country, prompting an outpouring of condolences from South Sudan and beyond, especially from audiences who followed him daily on The Dawn Show.
