Half of the candidates who sat the primary eight school examinations last year in the former Central Equatoria State has failed.
Almost 14,000 pupils sat, but only about 7,000 have passed. There were about 5,000 girls, but some 2,000 have passed.
The Director General at the Ministry of Education, Juma Lupai Lemi, says the four top schools are from Juba.
St. Joseph – Juba takes the first position, followed by JCC Model Juba, AIC Juba, Giada Girls, and Juba One respectively.
The best candidate in the state is Achol Kuol from Usratana Primary School -Juba with 89.2%.
Abraham Kwaje from JCC Model Primary School – Juba takes the second place with 89% and Nader Ramadan of Rock Hill Primary School – Juba takes the third place, with 88.6%.
According to the new states, the passing rate is 53% in Yei River, 48.7% in Jubek and 31.5% in Terekeka.
Mr. Juma says the results of 2014-2015 were better, with a passing rate of 67.9%.
